Teaching and Research Laboratories
The Graduate Program in Information Science of the Federal University of Alagoas (PPGCI/UFAL) has the following infrastructure of teaching and research laboratories:
- Information Technology Laboratory (LTI): 25 (twenty-five) chairs; 1 (one) whiteboard; 1 (one) data show; 1 (one) air conditioner; 1 (one) bureaux; benches equivalent to 25 (twenty-five) tables; 25 (twenty-five) complete computers connected to the World Wide Web; and wireless Internet.
- UFAL Library System (SIBI/UFAL): collection composed of more than 319,000 (three hundred and nineteen thousand) sources of information, in a total of more than 73,000 (seventy-three thousand) titles, among which the following can be highlighted: of data; CD-ROMs; dissertations (printed and digital); DVDs; e-books; printed books; monographs (printed and digital); scientific journals (print and digital); Portal of periodicals of the Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES), with internal access and remote access via CAFe; and Institutional Repository (RIUFAL); and other materials.
In addition to the infrastructure intended for administrative activities (Secretary, Coordination and Vice-coordination), research (LT1) and Professors' Rooms (offices with lockers, bureaux, chairs and telephones), the implementation, expansion and consolidation of the PPGCI/ UFAL have the following spaces:
- School Library: chairs, bureau, computer, shelves, tables and collection (books and periodicals in the areas of Librarianship, Information Science and the like, and Final Papers for Librarianship Course).
- Pantry: cupboards, chairs, ice cream, table, microwave, sink and refrigerator.
- Conservation and Restoration Laboratory (LACRE): bureau, computer and data show, split air conditioner, vats and sinks, shelves, tables and chairs, and whiteboard. This lab is currently being implemented.
- Electronic Document Management Laboratory (LAGED): bureau, chairs, computer and data show, split air conditioner and whiteboard. This lab is currently being implemented.
- Documentary Techniques Laboratory (LTD): bureau, computer and data show, split air conditioner, shelves, tables and chairs, and whiteboard.
- Information Technology Laboratory 2 (LTI-2): benches, bureau, computers and tables. This laboratory is currently being implemented (request for material carried out).
- Classrooms: bureau, chairs, computer, data show and whiteboard.
- Extension room: chairs, shelves and tables. This room is in the implementation phase (request for material carried out).
- Research room: chairs, split air conditioner, tables, computer and server.
- Meeting room: closet (bin), large benches, computers, cabinets (files), multifunctional printer, large tables, chairs and LED TV.
- WCs: individualized by categories (students, professors and administrative technicians).
The PPGCI/UFAL has at the disposal of students and professors, according to institutional policy, the multifunctional spaces, among which we can highlight:
- Central Library Auditorium (BC): air-conditioned environment, with capacity for 88 (eighty-eight) people, equipped with computer, data show, DVD, tables and sound system (table, speakers and microphones), screen and TV.
- Rectory Auditorium: air-conditioned environment, with capacity for 203 (two hundred and three) people, equipped with chairs, computer, data show, tables, sound system (table, speakers and microphones) and screen.
- Auditorium of the Community Interest Center (CIC): air-conditioned environment, with capacity for 100 (one hundred) people, equipped with chairs, computer, data show, ice water, tables, mini pantry, whiteboard and sound system (speakers and microphones).
- ICHCA Computer Laboratory: air-conditioned environment, equipped with chairs, bureau, computers connected to the world wide web, and tables.
- Mini-auditorium of the Central Library (BC): air-conditioned environment, with capacity for 50 (fifty) people and equipped with chairs, computer, data show, DVD, table, whiteboard and screen.
These spaces are multipurpose and have their own reservation schedules available to the university community. The PPGCI/UFAL community makes more use of BC auditoriums, mainly because they have sufficient structure and are adjacent to the Headquarters Building of the Librarianship Course and the Program.
